We look to Colossians 1:28-29 as the biblical foundation and motivation behind our home groups. “Christ is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.”
Home Groups provide a regular context within our church for “presenting one another mature in Christ.” We aim to do this by going deeper in fellowship (knowing one another), deeper in Bible Study (knowing God’s Word), and deeper in prayer (communion with God and his Word).
A home group will typically last about two hours. They will often gather around a meal or a time of fellowship, spend time studying and applying a passage of the Bible, and then praying for one another and the church.
Home groups meet from September through June, every other week on various days during the week. Each group will differ slightly but they typically last about two hours. The start time of each group is dependent on the group leader.
Home groups are aimed primarily at cultivating Biblical formation and deeper community within our church body. If you are attending Sunday Worship or committed to another local church, we’d encourage you to lean into discipleship ministries of your church. If you are interested in pursuing membership at Godspeed and you’d like to visit one of our home groups, we encourage you to reach out to us so that we can set that up for you.
At the same time, Home Groups can be a wonderful way to introduce a neighbor or friend who is exploring Christianity to Bible study and biblical community. We encourage skeptics, seekers, or explorers of Christianity to come to one of our home groups. To visit a home group, email info@godspeedchurch.org.
Our home groups meet in various locations around the East Providence area. We have a groups in central East Providence, Barrington, Providence, and Seekonk, Ma.
