As we grow in conformity to Christ, a healthy church will be moving outward in compassion towards those who do not know Christ. One of the greatest ways we can be a light in the city is by actively serving our neighbors and neighborhoods. While there are thousands of ways you might do this organically, here are a few local partners that can connect you to service opportunities.
“Together with Love” is a faith-based organization (founded by members of Godspeed Church) that advocates and cares for those who have been or are sex-trafficked. Find out more about this ministry here.
“Harmony Women’s Care Center” aims to help provide resources and counsel to women who are pregnant. They provide medical information, medical care and counsel for a host of issues related to pregnancy. Harmony is deeply committed to life and dignity of the unborn. Find out more about this ministry here.
“Summer OFF” is an open, day-camp style program in collaboration with the summer meals program in Providence and surrounding cities. The program is run through “New England Urban Church Planting.”
The “OFF” stands for “Outreach, Friends, and Faith.” “Outreach” because we have an important message about Jesus Christ to bring to anyone who may not have heard it. “Friends” because we care about you as a person and want to be your friend. “Faith” because understanding who God is and what He has done for you is the most important thing about you. Learn more about how to serve on “Summer OFF” here.
“Fostering Hope” is a local organization that guides churches and individuals into sustainable ministry to the foster care community. If you’re interested in learning more about the needs for children in foster care, reach out to Fostering Hope.
Rhode Trip is a six-year Christian based outdoor leadership program for young men. Each year, several men from local churches lead teenage boys on various kinds of expeditions while providing Bible teaching and spiritual formation and leadership skills.
